How to brush your teeth

Every time you eat or drink, bits of food or residue can cling to your teeth and gums. The debris and its bacteria turn into a sticky film called plaque.

Brushing your teeth helps remove this plaque and the bacteria that continually form on teeth and around the gums. If this is not removed regularly plaque can lead to tooth decay, cavities and gum disease. If it is left on the teeth for too long, it calcifies. This hardened plaque is called calculus, and it cannot be removed with a toothbrush.

A proper brushing technique can protect teeth from decay and disease. See the video below and raise any questions you may have with your dentist or hygienist who will always be happy to help.
